There are over six billion people living on the planet right now, and more than one million of them live in the Greater Hartford, Connecticut area. What this means for you, the home buyer, is that it's almost impossible to avoid having neighbors. If you want to buy real estate in Riverdale, Toronto or in another urban area like Hartford, you're going to have to put up with a much higher population density than you would if you were to move somewhere like the Australian Outback or the American Midwest. That's the price you pay for convenience, so here are some tips on dealing with your neighbors.
Be Friendly
You've heard the expression: "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." Well, neighbors are just like flies. If you want them to be nice to you, you have to be nice to them first. Say hello to everyone you meet in the hallway of your Mississauga condominium building. If you're having a party that might disturb them, invite them to come. Bring them some cookies if you like to bake. Be on a first name basis. This will help transform them from "people who won't go away" to "acquaintances" or even "friends."
Have Alone Time
Most of the issues people have with neighbors stem from their instincts to stake out territory that is theirs and only theirs. Many moons ago it would have been a cave, and now it's a unit of King West Condos. It's important to have somewhere to go where you can be alone. Unfortunately, some neighbors like to constantly remind you that they're around. In that case, you'll need to have somewhere else you can go to be alone. This could be a secret spot in a nearby park or perhaps the roof. Go there when you're feeling annoyed.
Address Issues Respectfully
Sometimes people are afraid to stir up trouble in their confined Waterpark City condos community, so they don't mention it when neighbors do something they don't like. Instead, they keep their mouths shut until they can't take it anymore, then lash out and ruin the relationship. Don't do this. Respectfully bring up any issues you have with the neighbor in question while the issue is still minor. To avoid giving offense, stick with sentences that begin with things like "I feel" and never yell.
Don't Be Afraid to Report
If your problems with your neighbors persist, don't just suffer in silence and don't jump straight to moving out. First report them to the homeowner's association of your Puerto Vallarta condo rental community and see if there's anything they can do. Chances are good that whatever your neighbor is doing to annoy you constitutes some sort of infraction of the community's rules.
